Delaware Opportunities

Important Updates About Our Services

A message from Dr. Shelly L. Bartow, Executive Director (updated July 22, 2020)

Delaware Opportunities is continuing to take steps to ensure the safety of both staff and clients and continue to appreciate your patience and flexibility as we implement new/additional safety protocol for many of our events and services.

As of the current time, all of our services are up and running in some capacity.  Please call DO at 607-746-1600 if you are in need of services and want to arrange a time to come in and meet with someone.  We are still asking that people call ahead and schedule an appointment, to the extent possible.  Please know you will be required to wear a mask upon entering the building and you will be asked screening questions prior to admittance into the building.  You can discuss this ahead of time when you call if you have any questions.

We do still have some additional services, above and beyond our normal/regular services.  They are as follows:

  • Emergency Relief Fund (for those with a temporary economic hardship that need assistance with mortgage/rent, utilities, car payments, child care, etc.)
  • Additional funds for rental/mortgage assistance
  • Assistance for back to school supplies for families
  • Dairy distributions, here at Hamden and in the community
  • Delivery via the Food Bank for those with transportation barriers
  • Home delivered meals for all seniors, even those not normally participating in the Senior Meals program
  • Access to essential non-food items via the Food Bank and local food pantries
  • Prescription assistance

We are also in the process of gathering input from Delaware County residents on the impact of COVID so that we can be certain we are best meeting the needs of the community.  Please use the following link to fill out the survey today.
