The Big Buddy Program is a mentoring program for at-risk youth in Delaware County. The program offers the opportunity for a child to have a one-on-one relationship with a big buddy volunteer.
Little buddies are at-risk children between the ages of 5 and 14. Traditionally, all big buddy volunteers are at least the age of 18 and have passed our screening process. The Big Buddy Program is designed to provide an additional adult in the life of a child. The adult serves as a friend and as a mentor and generally spends 4-8 hours per month with their little buddy.
The program also offers a school-based mentor program that pairs little buddies with select high school students, to create positive school experiences and increase a sense of connect.
Throughout the year, the program offers monthly opportunities to connect through group activities that are enjoyable and may incorporate community service. The possibilities are nearly endless!
If you are interested in enriching the life of a child as a Big Buddy volunteer, or if you know of someone that would benefit having a positive adult role model in their life, please contact the Big Buddy Program.
