Delaware Opportunities Inc. Community Services program is anticipating the need for two (2) full-time HEAP Examiners (dependent on funding). One position will be based at our Hamden location and one position will be based at our OFA location. HEAP Examiners are responsible for interviewing and screening applicants for HEAP, maintaining accurate program records, ensuring compliance with HEAP regulations and procedures, and coordinating with staff, community agencies, and outreach locations.
Job Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Set up outreach locations and ensure appropriate staffing;
- Prepare news releases and mass mailings to promote HEAP services;
- Conduct interviews and screen applicants for HEAP eligibility;
- Perform computerized data entry and ensure the accuracy of data entered by HEAP staff;
- Perform general office duties as required;
- Work collaboratively with community agencies;
- Provide information about HEAP to community groups;
- Maintain an in-depth and up-to-date knowledge of HEAP regulations and procedures;
- Ensure compliance with all applicable rules and regulations;
- Prepare and submit required reports;
- Screen, interview, and train staff;
- Maintain current knowledge of local programs and available assistance
Qualifications:
- Valid New York State Driver’s License required;
- Associate degree in Human Services, Business Management, or a related field and one (1) year of experience in a human services setting; and/or
- Three (3) years of experience in human services and general office procedures
Schedule & Pay:
- Full-Time, Seasonal position
- 35 hours per week, Monday - Friday
- Pay range: $23.39 - $27.90 per hour (depending on experience)
