About the position:
- The Nutrition Consultant will assist the Delaware Opportunities Inc Head Start in the implementation nutrition related Performance Standards with the shared goal of achieving them with fidelity.
- The Consultant provides support and education for Head Start children, staff, management and families of enrolled children in the areas of nutrition services.
- The expected Consultant services provided include:
Collaborate with the Health Services Manager to support existing nutrition services, including policies and
procedures for assessing a child’s nutritional status
Available for staff and parent trainings promoting child family and staff nutritional wellness education
Serve on the Mental Health and Health Services Advisory Committee
Review and approve USDA & CACFP cycle menus
Review Children’s body mass index (BMI) and assist development and implement Individual Nutrition Plans
The ideal candidate will have the following:
- Knowledgeable of early childhood education, nutrition, growth and development
- Knowledge of Head Start
- Knowledge of USDA CACFP requirements

- Excellent follow up skills
Required Education and Experience:
● Registration with the commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition
-OR a Master’s Degree from an approved program in public health nutrition may be substituted for registration with the
Commission on Dietetic Registration. Current state licensure or certification as a nutritionist or dietitian is acceptable
● Two years of related experience as a nutritionist or dietitian in a health program including services in infants and children
