Delaware Opportunities Inc. is seeking a full-time Disability Services Manager for our Head Start Program. The Disability Services Manager is responsible for implementing and coordinating the disabilities component of the Head Start Program, assisting in ongoing classroom monitoring and for center licensing in order to meet or exceed performance standards, and applicable state and local licensing codes and governing components. The ideal candidate must be hard-working, reliable, a team player and trustworthy with good interpersonal and organizational skills and attention to detail. 

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Attend CPSE meetings and case conferences as deemed necessary;
  • Responsible for overall planning, management and implementation of the disabilities component;
  • Meet with staff and parents to discuss concerns of children with disabilities
  • Track and follow-up on all children with disabilities
  • Observe children with suspected disabilities in center
  • Provide support and resources to Lead Teacher in planning for children with disabilities
  • Meet with parents and/or attend parent meetings as requested
  • Ensure children are put through the CPSE process in a timely manner and complete monthly report on children that are classified
  • Ensure staff and service providers are following IEP goals
  • Advocate for all children with disabilities and their families and aid in the referral process
  • Assure smooth transition into Head Start and public school for children with disabilities
  • Ensure that the concept of inclusion is implemented
  • Conduct on-site visits to the centers on a regular basis to observe all children and perform a health and safety checklist and discuss observation with Lead Teacher, Children’s Services and Health Services Managers as appropriate
  • Ensure that all centers meet New York State licensing standards.  Supervise collection and submission of all required documentation for center re-licensing
  • Submit reports to the Head Start Director as required
  • Work with other agencies in the pursuit of attaining needed services for Head Start children and families
  • Participate in the annual program self-assessment process
  • Assist in preparing and submitting the PIR and Community Assessment
  • Review the Disabilities Plan at least annually and update as necessary
  • Perform other similar or associated duties as directed or required

 Qualifications: 

  • BA or BS in early childhood; and
  • Experience with preschool children; one-year supervisory experience

Schedule & Pay

  • Monday – Friday
  • 35 hours per week
  • Pay range: $26.63 - $31.74 per hour DOE
