We are hiring four people for this position, with positions available at our Davenport, Fishs Eddy, Arkville, and Franklin Head Start locations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: SSCBT or Family Development Credential or Associate’s degree in psychology, sociology, or human services, and
Experience: One year experience with low income families
REQUIREMENTS: New York State driver's license; personal vehicle; successful completion of physical, TB test; ability to lift 40 pounds.
BASIC FUNCTION: Serve as a liaison between the Head Start Center and participating families, assisting families to gain access to needed services and achieve self-sufficiency.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ongoing recruitment of eligible children and maintaining a waiting list;
Recruit both parent and community volunteers for center, classroom and other related activities;
Assist families in their efforts to improve their quality of life through promoting awareness and facilitating use of community resources to meet family needs;
Maintain accurate and confidential records for Family and Community Engagement and Health Components;
Assist in health, mental health, dental and nutritional education, activities and appointments for parents and children;
Participate in and promote family and community engagement in all aspects of the program; including parent workshops and assist parents to fulfill their roles as program policy makers;
Provide a planned program of experiences and activities which support and enhance the parental role as the principal influence in their child's education and development;
Attend/plan in-service, pre-service, staff meetings and other training as required or needed;
Participate in the program's self-assessment process;
Work with parents in a non-judgmental manner, encouraging family strengths;
Implement the regulations of being a mandated reporter;
