Safe Against Violence Director

Delaware Opportunities Inc. is currently seeking a qualified and compassionate individual to serve as the Safe Against Violence (SAV) Director. This leadership role oversees all aspects of the SAV program, including services for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, rape, and other crimes. The Director is responsible for managing daily operations, supervising program staff and volunteers, maintaining 24/7 hotline coverage, and ensuring the delivery of essential crisis intervention and victim support services.

Key responsibilities include serving as the Rape Crisis Director in accordance with New York State Department of Health standards; supervising and supporting program staff, including the CAC Coordinator, Victim Counselors, and volunteers; and maintaining 24/7 hotline coverage. The Director develops and implements training for staff and volunteers, ensures high-quality crisis counseling, oversees the delivery of services such as advocacy, transportation, emergency shelter, and referrals, coordinates community education and prevention efforts and grant reporting.

The role requires active collaboration with legal, medical, and social service agencies to ensure seamless support for victims. The Director also works closely with the Executive Director and Fiscal Officer to prepare and monitor program budgets, develop funding applications, and ensure the program remains financially sustainable. Responsibilities further include maintaining strict confidentiality protocols, preparing timely reports, and representing the program in public forums, media relations, and multi-agency partnerships.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human services, sociology, women’s studies, or a related field
  • Minimum of four years’ experience in counseling or human services, with demonstrated skills in crisis intervention and community engagement
  • At least one year of supervisory experience
  • Valid New York State Driver’s License; must be willing to serve in an on-call capacity
  • Ability to read, understand and implement governmental regulations, rules, and procedures.

This is an exempt position, salary range of $71,112-84,804 annually, 35 hours per week, with potential on-call responsibilities. This position offers a unique opportunity to lead a vital program that makes a direct impact on the safety and well-being of individuals throughout the community.
