Delaware Opportunities, Inc. is seeking a full-time Family Services Worker for our Head Start program in Davenport, NY. This position serves as a liaison between the Head Start Center and participating families, supporting family engagement, access to services, and self-sufficiency in a non-judgmental and strengths-based manner.
Qualifications:
- SSCBT or Family Development Credential or Associate’s degree in psychology, sociology, or human services
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working with low-income families
- Valid New York State driver’s license
- Personal vehicle required
Schedule & Pay:
- Full-time position
- $18.16 per hour
- 37.5 hours per week
Responsibilities:
- Conduct ongoing recruitment of eligible children and maintain waiting lists
- Recruit and support parent and community volunteers
- Assist families in accessing community resources to improve quality of life
- Maintain accurate and confidential records for Family and Community Engagement and Health components
- Support health, mental health, dental, and nutritional education, activities, and appointments
- Promote family and community engagement through workshops and program participation
- Support parents in their role as primary educators and program policy contributors
- Plan and provide experiences that strengthen the parental role in child development
- Attend and participate in in-service, pre-service, staff meetings, and trainings
- Participate in program self-assessment activities
- Work with families in a non-judgmental, strengths-based manner
- Fulfill mandated reporter responsibilities
- Perform related duties as assigned
