Delaware Opportunities, Inc. is seeking a full-time Family Development Specialist for our Hamden location. Pay range to start at $22.05 per hour, 35 hours per week. The ideal candidate must be hard working, reliable, possess the ability to assist and advocate for clients in need in a non-judgmental way. Works well with a team and independently. 

Responsibilities:

Staff will assess clients strengths and suitability for the program, screen for eligibility, encourage self-sufficiency through assisting with establishing attainable goals, conduct regular visits with enrolled families, provide referrals, support, advocacy to assist with attaining goals, maintain case files, attend regular staff meetings, promote the Family Development model and publicize family development within the community.

Required experience/education:
Bachelor's degree in sociology, psychology, or related field; and/or experience in counseling, community organizing or working with low income families and willingness to achieve Family Development Credential if available.
Valid NYS driver’s license with a clean driving record

Skills required:

Ability to relate well to people of varying socio-economic backgrounds; good communication skills, integrity and ability to work independently and as a team. Candidate must have a bachelor’s degree and/or experience working with low income families.
