Delaware Opportunities Inc. Family Support Programs are Office For People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) grant funded programs to those who meet the State Agency's eligibility requirements. Delaware Opportunities Home & Community Based Medicaid Waiver Programs are funded through Medicaid after eligibility requirements for OPWDD and Medicaid services have been determined.
Family Support Services (FSS) include:
- Reimbursed Respite: short-term relief for families and unpaid caregivers of individuals with developmental disabilities. Families may receive up to $3,000 per year to help reimburse the cost of approved respite services. This program allows caregivers time to rest, recharge, or attend to other responsibilities while their loved one receives safe, supportive care, helping strengthen family well-being and promote continued living at home and in the community.
- Reimbursement for Goods and Services: helps families offset the cost of items and supports that enhance the health, safety, and quality of life of individuals with developmental disabilities. Families may be reimbursed for approved goods and services that are not covered by other funding sources and that support daily living, independence, and meaningful participation at home and in the community. This flexible support is designed to ease financial strain while helping families access the resources their loved ones need to thrive.
