Delaware Opportunities, Inc. is seeking a full-time Family Services Worker for our Head Start program in Sidney, NY. This position serves as a liaison between the Head Start Center and participating families while supporting family engagement, access to services, and self-sufficiency in a non-judgmental and strengths-based manner.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Conduct ongoing recruitment of eligible children and maintain waiting lists;
  • Recruit and support parent and community volunteers;
  • Assist families in accessing community resources to improve quality of life;
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records for Family and Community Engagement and Health components;
  • Support health, mental health, dental, and nutritional education, activities, and appointments;
  • Promote family and community engagement through workshops and program participation;
  • Support parents in their role as primary educators and program policy contributors;
  • Plan and provide experiences that strengthen the parental role in child development;
  • Attend and participate in in-service, pre-service, staff meetings, and trainings;
  • Participate in program self-assessment activities;
  • Work with families in a non-judgmental, strengths-based manner;
  • Fulfill mandated reporter responsibilities;
  • Perform related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • SSCBT or Family Development Credential or Associate’s degree in psychology, sociology, or human services;
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working with low-income families;
  • Valid New York State driver’s license;
  • Personal vehicle required

Schedule & Pay:

  • Monday - Friday
  • Pay range: $18.16 - $21.69 per hour
  • 37.5 hours per week
