Delaware Opportunities, Inc. is seeking a full-time Family Services Worker for our Head Start program in Sidney, NY. This position serves as a liaison between the Head Start Center and participating families while supporting family engagement, access to services, and self-sufficiency in a non-judgmental and strengths-based manner.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Conduct ongoing recruitment of eligible children and maintain waiting lists;
- Recruit and support parent and community volunteers;
- Assist families in accessing community resources to improve quality of life;
- Maintain accurate and confidential records for Family and Community Engagement and Health components;
- Support health, mental health, dental, and nutritional education, activities, and appointments;
- Promote family and community engagement through workshops and program participation;
- Support parents in their role as primary educators and program policy contributors;
- Plan and provide experiences that strengthen the parental role in child development;
- Attend and participate in in-service, pre-service, staff meetings, and trainings;
- Participate in program self-assessment activities;
- Work with families in a non-judgmental, strengths-based manner;
- Fulfill mandated reporter responsibilities;
- Perform related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- SSCBT or Family Development Credential or Associate’s degree in psychology, sociology, or human services;
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working with low-income families;
- Valid New York State driver’s license;
- Personal vehicle required
Schedule & Pay:
- Monday - Friday
- Pay range: $18.16 - $21.69 per hour
- 37.5 hours per week
